Roots in Broward

Raised in the community she seeks to serve

Katie was born in Broward County at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale and raised in the community she now seeks to serve. Her campaign is rooted in respect for the people, families, attorneys, and litigants who rely on a fair and impartial court system.

Education

Academic preparation and local commitment

Katie attended St. Coleman Catholic School and Cardinal Gibbons High School in Broward County before earning her B.A. in English from the University of Florida and her J.D. from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law.

She earned full academic scholarships through high school, college, and law school, reflecting the discipline and work ethic she brings to her professional life.

A career in the courtroom

Trial work and civil litigation from both sides

Katie began her legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County. That role gave her direct courtroom experience and reinforced the importance of preparation, professionalism, and treating every person in the courtroom with dignity.

She later moved into civil litigation, where she represented both sides of civil cases - people bringing claims and people defending them. That balanced experience gives her a practical understanding of how litigation affects real people and businesses.

Mediation and arbitration

Resolving disputes with fairness and clarity

Katie is a court-qualified arbitrator - trained to decide disputes outside the courtroom. She is also certified by the Florida Supreme Court to mediate cases at every level of the state's civil court system: circuit, county, family, and appellate.

This work requires patience, careful listening, and the ability to understand the law while respecting the people affected by it.
